Louise on Lake Geneva
Watercolor by Terrance Taylor
24.5×17.5 inches

Transparent watercolor painting of Louise on Lake Geneva. Lake Geneva Wisconsin is home to many great antique boats, but only one is steam powered. Louise was built in 1902 by the Racine boat Manufacturing Company. She is 75 feet in length. Her owner was John Mitchell, a Chicago banker. Louise was steam powered when she was new but was later converted to piston power and went through several engines. Later, she went through a major restoration which included reconversion to steam power when a 1926 steam engine was found in England. It too, was totally restored. What better subject could there be for a boating watercolor?
